Rosemarie Capodicci
Rosemarie Capodicci has been researching her Italian and Portuguese genealogy since 1979 and published the quarterly newsletter for Portuguese genealogists called “Portuguese Ancestry” for 14 years ending in January 2005. She has also written a column for the Monterey County Genealogical Society's newsletter called the “Portuguese Corner.” Rosemarie has lectured on Portuguese Research at the 1995 National Genealogical Conference in San Diego; at the DAR/FHC Seminars in Seaside, California since 1991; at the San Francisco History Fair for three years; at the annual S.H.H.A.R. (Hispanic Conference) in 1993, and 1995, many genealogy societies in California and the Monterey County Genealogical Society’s Seminars. She has lectured at the Azores Conference in Salt Lake City in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2015. Rosemarie has also been a library assistant for the Monterey Branch Family History Center since 1989.
Cheri Mello
Cheri Mello has been a researcher for over 20 years and has traced many of her ancestral lines (both American and Portuguese) into the 1700s and a few lines beyond that. She has been a member of the American‐Portuguese Genealogical and Historical Association and a member of Portuguese Ancestry. She was the lead moderator for America Online’s Genealogy Forum – Portuguese chat for nine years. After that, she moderated on Lusaweb before founding her own Azores list on Google Groups which now has over 930 members. She has been a co‐administrator with Family Tree DNA on the Azores project for the past 7 years. She has lectured all over the greater Los Angeles area, San Diego, CA as well as in New Bedford, MA, North Dartmouth, MA, and Providence, RI. In addition to lecturing on Portuguese genealogy, she has also lectured on DNA, GEDCOMs, and Find‐A‐Grave.
João Ventura
João Manuel Dinis da Silva Ventura was born in 1968 in Ribeirinha, Terceira Island, Azores. He earned his degree in English and German at the University of Coimbra and a postgraduate at the same university in Archivology. He started genealogy research in 1988 and in 1999 began doing it professionally. He had been working for the Government of the Azores in the field of genealogy and currently is the archivist of Direção Regional da Cultura (Regional Directorate for Culture). While he worked in the genealogy department he was responsible for scanning church record for Terceira, São Jorge and Graciosa and also supervised the scanning of the records for Faial, Pico, Corvo and Flores. He also developed and presented workshops of beginning genealogy research in Terceira, São Miguel, and Faial. He has also lectured in Tulare and San Jose, California. He has completed the genealogy research for many villages in Terceira and São Jorge.
